AI trend update — 2026-10-02 Google has put AI chips in orbit to test data centers powered by sunlight. • Project Suncatcher's first prototype, a Planet-built satellite with Trillium TPUs, flew on SpaceX's Transporter-18 to test 10g launch loads, radiation and cooling in vacuum. • Next: two satellites in 2027 to test laser links. Later designs carry dozens of TPUs each. Source: https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/models-and-research/google-research/google-project-suncatcher-facts/
